Description: This workshop introduces Participants to new mediums, tools and techniques that will greatly expand their ability to add a more artistic and tactile feeling to their work, affecting the overall mood and content of the final image.
One does not have to bee trained in traditional Fine art making processes in order to begin the journey into making mixed media photographic images. The addition of mixed media introduces the Photographer to new tools and techniques that will greatly expand his ability to add a more artistic and tactile feeling to the overall feeling and mood of the final image. Photography is a medium that readily lends itself to painting, toning and collage etc. etc. Hand working a print with charcoal, pastels, watercolors etc., allows the photographer a unique opportunity to take his personal work into the fine art arena of mixed media allowing the creation of one of a kind or edition prints. Mixed media photography is highly prized in the contemporary art market today.
This course is designed to enable those interested in delving into mixed media aspects of Photo Imaging the opportunity to do so. Participants will be introduced to mixed media photo techniques and materials that will help you to understand better, how images can evolve into something more than a straight photographic print. Photoshop techniques will also be interspersed with hand working prints allowing students to get a feeling of how the digital and traditional techniques can work in tandem. I think you will be surprised as to how readily the photographic image takes to the mark making process. Students will also be introduced to a variety of alternative photo processes such as Platinum Palladium printing and Photo Polymer Gravure.
The addition of mixed media opens new avenues for creative process to enter into your fine art endeavors. This workshop will be interspersed with daily photographic trips to the nearby hill towns and valley’s where participants will capture photo imagery that will be used during studio instruction and lab time.
